Good News!  Abbeywood Achieves Artsmark Gold award!

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded Artsmark Gold, awarded by Arts Council England.  We are only 1 of 3 Primary schools in Worcestershire to have achieved this and the first primary aged school in Redditch. This highly thought of award acknowledges the schools commitment and provision for the arts and will be held for 2 years.  To achieve Gold Level, we have had to demonstrate the high quality provision in dance, drama, music and art both inside and outside the classroom.  This includes working with professionals, rich opportunities for culturally diverse experiences, participation in high quality performances as well as sharing best practice with other schools and showing innovation and creativity in our approach to curriculum design with arts at the heart of it.

We are not stopping there as there is now the possibility of aiming for platinum award, which we plan to do by broadening the impact we have on influencing arts driven practice across other schools.

Parent and Carer Childcare Survey - June 2018

Do you have a 2, 3 or 4 year old child? If so, Worcestershire County Council want to hear your views on childcare in Worcestershire.

Please complete the online survey at www.worcestershire.gov.uk/childcaresufficiency – this will help them to plan and deliver sufficient childcare places in your area to ensure you can access your free childcare entitlement in high quality provision at the times and locations you need.

Free childcare is a great opportunity for your child to learn, have fun and make friends. In a recent study1, 64% of parents said they were using childcare to allow themselves to work, look for work or to study and 58% said they used the service for the child’s social or educational development.

If you would like help completing this survey, or would like a copy of the survey in a different language or format, please contact http://www.worcestershire.gov.uk/info/20507/childcare/1579/do_you_need_extra_help_or_advice_around_childcare Find out more about free childcare at your local children's centre or www.worcestershire.gov.uk/freechildcare
