Welcome from the Director of Teaching Schools – Matthew Purslow
On behalf of RSAA Teaching Schools, I am delighted to welcome you to our Teaching Schools information pages. As an Alliance, we are especially aware of the importance of excellent teachers and supporting practice which helps provide the best possible outcomes for our learners. As an ‘RSA’ family, it is our mission to nurture colleagues through the formative years of your teaching career and to provide a supportive and encouraging environment which allows practitioners to learn from other colleagues, from their own practice and from the fantastic educational relationships they form with their learners. This has never been more relevant in these challenging and unprecedented times—resilience and commitment is a reflection of the spirit which is intrinsic to the teaching profession; an unswerving dedication to improving outcomes for learners in a safe, motivational and rewarding environment.
At Abbeywood Teaching School, we are committed to prolonged professional development which, research tells us, makes a far greater impact on changing and developing pedagogy than quick-fixes. Our drive has always been quality-first teaching as we know that this is what makes the difference to pupil achievement. As a school, we continually practise 'action reserve' and have a wealth of outcomes to share through our CPD courses. The Primary S2S support model we use is bespoke, ensuring that we meet the needs of individual schools and their pupils as we understand that every school has its own unique requirements. Our flexibility ensures that we can service the needs of first, primary and middle schools and this is strongly linked to pupil outcomes.
