Queen's Platinum Jubilee Picnic

The children and families all joined together to enjoy a wonderful jubilee picnic on the school field.  There was music, food, games and bunting galore as a real celebration of this special occasion. The sun even shone for us! 

Queen's Jubilee Celebration - May 2022

Many of our families enjoyed the very special community event where we were entertained by the Royal Marching Band and treated to food and drinks.  Some of our children even made it live onto the BBC Breakfast Show!  This was all in recognition of the hard work of Church Hill Big Local - well done! 

Easter Bunny March 2022

The children of Abbeywood had a very exciting visit from the Easter Bunny to finish off the spring term and celebrate the start of Easter.  Thank you to Church Hill Big Local who funded each child receiving an Easter egg. 

Thank you also to all of our families for supporting with the making of Easter bonnets.  The children had a wonderful time showing these off at our Easter Bonnet Parade. 

Science Week - March 2022

The children enjoyed a really exciting week making links between the world of work and their science learning.  We were lucky enough to have visits and workshops from a vet, personal trainers and a geologist, all of whom shared how science linked to their jobs.  Alongside this, there were experiments galore in classes as well as a whole school marble run competition. 

Comic Relief March 2022

Well done Abbeywood for raising £159.00 for Comic Relief this year by dressing in red for the day.  We looked together at who this money would support and the children demonstrated our school values of kindness and respect. 

Collecting for the Ukraine - Feb/March 2022

Thank you to all our families for your very generous donations of clothes, toiletries, blankets, nappies and many more much needed items to help those in the Ukraine.  We packaged up a huge delivery to Atwell Farm to ensure that this reached those who need it most.  We have talked about the recent events with the children in assemblies and circle times and as always, they have demonstrated great sensitivity to the subject.  

Library and Entrance Grand Opoening 

World of Books Day

Our new shared library and entrance was officially opened today. This beautiful space is alovely area to explore books and reading, so we spent the day even more immersed in books than we usually do! 

Children in Need 2021

Abbeywood were delighted to welcome a visit from Pudsey Bear on Friday 12th November.  The children raised a huge £252.50 for this great charity by wearing their PJ's and onesies for the day!

NSPCC Assemblies October 2021

We have once again paired up with the NSPCC to ensure our children are really supported in understanding how to keep themselves safe.  Due to the current circumstances, the NSPCC are not currently visiting schools in person but over the next few weeks, the children will be sharing the NSPCC online assemblies "Speak Out, Stay Safe".
