Merry Christmas from Year 3!

Go to the Abbeywood in Action page to see our Christmas song.  Merry Christmas everybody.  Have a great holiday and don't forget to come back next year.

Geography 13.12.21

Today we explored how fossils are formed using plaster. We discussed the process of fossil formation and felt a real fossil: an ammonite! Finally, we enjoyed making our own fossils.

Rocks

We have been learning all about what lies beneath our feet.  We were scientists and looked closely at different types of rocks.  We learned how different rocks were formed and did experiments to find out if a rock was sedimentary or not.

Forest School 17.11.21

Archery Competition

We took part in an archery competition, where we tried to earn as many points as possible for our colour team.

Autumn 2021.

What's behind the picture?

Year 3 are exploring events through time this year, starting with the Iron and Stone Age civilizations.  The journey through time will allow them to explore all areas of our curriculum from volcanoes to modern day coding.  A personal and class timeline will be created and added to throughout the term.  We can't wait to share our learning with you.

MARATHON KIDS.

Year 3 are participating in the Schools Marathon Kids program.  Each week children run/walk/jog/skip around a 100m track for 20 minutes.  They collect a band on each completed lap and count their bands when the timer stops.  This is then converted to kilometres and entered into the Marathon Kids App, who keep a tally of the distance logged.  Certificates are awarded for 10km, Half marathon, 30km and full marathon.

In Science we are being biologists and studying the human body and comparing it to other animals.  We have become experts on bones!
